Organic house de pista e de alma: conheça o trabalho do israelense T-Puse

We already know that Israel is one of the world’s great electronic music hotspots. And within that vibrant scene lies the rich artistic vision of T-Puse, alias of Omer Gani. The DJ and producer has been on the road for over 15 years. He started early: at the age of 12 he was studying DJing, at 13 he had already given his first performance and, in the following years, he dedicated himself to music production and his key instrument, the saz (or bağlama), which is a traditional Middle Eastern instrument. He also plays piano and bass.

“In my youth I experimented with all types of music. It was important for me to explore everything because I have always been fascinated by different types of music. To this day I feel the need to explore unconventional directions in my work”, says the artist.

So, when it comes to studio work, T-Puse is one of the game’s aces. He has released on labels such as Sol Selectas, 3000Grad, Bar25 and A Tribe Called Kotori. It’s not hard to identify the “alchemy tech” aesthetic in his productions, each with its own particularity: the hypnotic downtempo of tracks like “Ambiance of Life” and “Udumbara“; the enigmatic ethnic house of “Al Aqrab” and “Fellas Together” and the clubber vibe of “About Dancing” and “Court Jester“…

“I always produce from where I am emotionally and I always try to awaken a feeling of emotional explosion in people. That’s why I make music in different tones and rhythms. And the feeling of imperfection, in my eyes, is perfection itself. It makes you think and tell yourself a whole story, and I love melodies encapsulated in organic and harmonic grooves,” T-Puse comments.

When asked which three words could sum up his work, T-Puse is categorical: “groove, life and soul”. And you can capture a bit of this energy by watching one of his performances at the showcase of his label, Ursul Records. The general idea, for T-Puse, is to prioritize  dynamics between the choices of repertoire. Each “musical mood” will be demonstrated, from the most nomadic house to the most psychedelic indie dance – and this way of operating is reflected, of course, in his curation of the label.

“Ursul was created out of a desire to bring something fresh and genuinely ours to the table, in terms of music, design and events. There aren’t many labels that fit our style of sound, but on the other hand, we always get great reactions from the public to our music,” says T-Puse. Some of the artists featured on Ursul Records include Angata, Mishell, Ben Lipshitz, Oi and Mosko (IL).
